H ave you ever seen these on the back of Cadillacs, other high end cars?
The ubiquitous 2.0T badge. V-8, V-12, 5.0, 7.0, etc., I get. I know there are turbo fours that put out great power and torque, but the 2.0T badge on a high end car or SUV, I just don’t see car friends or neighbors being too impressed.

Which is partly why GM is moving to badges showing the torque value (rounded up) in Nm. Also helps establish a hierarchy between models and is able to cover any combination of internal combustion and electric.

I suspect it’s all relative. If your ATS has the 2.0T on it, then people know you have a turbo engine, and not that base NA 4-pot trash. But then, of course they will also know you don’t have a V6. Depends on how you look at it.
I kinda think it’s dumb to put badges about your engine selection or trim level on a car anyway.
Most o lder Buicks I see have the badge that says “limited”. I always chuckle and say to myself, “it sure is”.

The badge on my car says TSI, which tells my neighbors my family didn’t work hard enough for a TDI or V6.
Mind you, the fact that I rearranged PASSAT to ASSPAT says more about me than anything else.

I’m not too upset with this. I’m more willing to die on the hill of protesting Audi’s use of “T” to indicate forced induction of any kind, and not just turbocharging.
2.0T: 4-banger with a turbo
3.0T: V6 with a supercharger
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Better than this one at least?

Why did you remove the badge from my car?

Sorry I just wanted to borrow it

But what if you don’t want a TDI or a V6? Should you be shamed for being reasonable? I didn’t want a 911 and had a 968 by choice - not because I couldn’t afford a 911 but because I didn’t want one. Same thing with the E320 - the V6 was sufficient for my needs and the car had all the equipment I could ask for. Yeah, I could have bought one with a V8 or an AMG model, but I didn’t want those. I could have bought a fancier minivan, but I wanted a 6MT and willingly g ave up the toys, added weight and reliability issues to get it.
I feel no shame or embarrassment for driving entry- level cars (except for the beat up Windstar that I bought for a dollar) , and view anyone that looks down upon me for doing so as an insecure wa nk er. Life is too short to live in a constant state of envy and jealousy.

Unless it’s a 4.0L Grand Caravan, that definitely needs a badge so I can just glance at the back when I’m digging through the JY instead of having to trudge around, open the hood, climb to the front to open it, etc, etc.

None of that comment was meant to be taken seriously btw.
But yes, I agree with you.

Fair.
